But never concieving
Blank faces and screams

Hearing dissonant voices
While no one is around

So I can feel them crawl
Picking my skin
Till their nails are within my fiend
Blood is dripping
My black heart beating
Nervous I weep
While they scream at me
My pencil is scribbling
A picture that means nothing
Rain is still falling
Wind is blowing
There is no one here
Except the dissonant voices I hear
Lightning strikes the ground
And it sounds like a whisper
I can not turn around
My body has withered
Dark pools gathered on the floor
Rain pours through the door
The smell of a rotting corpse in my nose
Till sunshine has come
They aren't done
When the sun comes up
The pools turn into my blood
Cut Open Hands

Le Vampire et le Sorcier : non, je ne parle pas d'un film fantastique ou de romance gothique qui serait passé sous votre radar mais d'un split qui réunit Old Nick (sa dernière sortie de 2020, qui aura comporté un autre split, deux albums et sept E.P.) et Hex Clock. Si le premier est inégalable, le talent du second se confirme déjà. Le raw black metal des deux artistes est épique, drôle, absurde, brut de décoffrage mais il charme, il ensorcelle. C'est un vrai bouquet final pour cette année !

La source, c'est le lieu où se rencontrent des symboliques en opposition : les malheureux s'y noient dans le mensonge qu'est leur reflet et les preux chevaliers s'y révèlent ; c'est un écrin de nature où l'on peut avoir audience avec le surnaturel. C'est justement l'univers choisi par Water Nymph dans Heroic Pond, son premier album : on y retrouve le même dungeon synth marin avec cette fois plus de majesté — et on y entend les nymphes chanter et jouer du violon ! Une petite perle réconfortante.

Curse Of The Lock Master permet à Old Nick de donner encore plus de cohérence à son univers. Car oui : les cellules des cryptes dans Witch Lymph ont des serrures aussi solides grâce à un mystérieux lépreux qui vit dans les tours. Il n'est pas un cordonnier mal chaussé : le raw black metal révèle un personnage aussi tourmenté et maudit que ses propres créations. C'est souligné par une production acérée qui percute des atmosphères grotesques et cryptiques. C'est théâtral et haut en couleurs !

De l'importance du titre ou Comment une juxtaposition de mots savamment choisis permettra à l'auditeur attentif de repérer chez Old Nick une transition vers un cadre spatio-temporel plus proche de l'ère victorienne gothique, confirmée par les clavecins et cuivres au synthé, mais aussi de parodier le contexte susmentionné, parodie amplifiée par un raw black metal chaotique : un essai au sujet de T.N.O.T.A.A.T.P.B.T.Q.A.S.F.A.B.O.O.T.D.O.S.S.T.T.E.V.H.S mené par Sir Jordan Vauvert en l'an 2024.
